The military-like secretive Applecorporation had lost a final level prototype of its next-gen iPhone thanks toGray Powell and some German beer that he downed. But that didn't let anythingchange at the keynote Steve Jobs delivered earlier this week at WWDC 2010.

Steve yet again hammered down one fact into the minds of millions ofpeople. The fact that Apple truly is a company that will make you buy thingsthat you don't need, but really, really want. Welcome the iPhone 4, a productthat is a combination of pure sorcery and very clever marketing.

A stunning 9.3mm thin, the body of iPhone 4 is coveredwith aluminosilicate glass on the front and the back. This glass is used inmilitary chopper windshields, which is why it is 30 times harder than plasticand less prone to scratches. The periphery is constructed out of a custom alloythat is five times stronger than regular steel, thus protecting the device wellin case if you happen to drop it.

I feel the need to mention the'Retina Display' feature on the iPhone 4, which, simply put, packs in four timesthe amount of pixels (326 pixels per inch) as compared to the current iPhone3GS. That means when you watch HD movies or browse through a webpage on the3.5inch screen (960 x 640 pixels), everything from images to text will beslicing sharp.

True worldwide video chat is also made possible onthe iPhone 4, only through Wi-Fi and both the devices need to be iPhone 4s. Theycall it FaceTime, and it is a delight to see it at work, especially the bitwhere you can choose to use either the front or the rear cam with a simple tap.Shutterbugs can finally put a grin on their face, as the iPhone 4 lets you snap5 megapixel images or videos in HD (720p). Autofocus and a LED flash is packedin too.

Gaming has been big on the iPhone due to its inclusion of anaccelerometer. Now it will get even better with the iPhone 4 as it plonks in a3-axis gyro, which when coupled with the accelerometer offers 6-axis motionsensing, frighteningly true to life gaming. iOS 4, which includes over 100 newfeatures, will debut on iPhone 4 and will support multitasking. For thefilmmaker in you, Apple has ported imovie to the iPhone 4 for a mere $4.99. Itis an absolute breeze to edit videos even for a novice user.

The Gray market has its roots firmly placed in the mind ofthe avid buyer. The iPad for example is still officially not available here, butis found in more than ample numbers in popular gray markets across the country. One of the buyers who doesn't wish to be named shares his bit about how easy itis to buy a product here in India for almost the same price that it stickers inthe US.

A 64GB iPad (Wi-Fi) can be purchased for roughly Rs 42,000here, which is near about the same price it quotes in the US. Similarly, theiPhone 4 will too make its way inevitably to the gray market. But the onlyproblem that might stop you from buying it is the fact that iPhone 4 will useMicro SIM, instead of a regular SIM card. This means none of your older SIMcards will work, unless you are the adventurous kinds.
