Last Updated: July 24. 2010 1:00AM Oakland briefs Auburn Hills To help find homes for hundreds of pets, the ninth annual "Pet-A-Palooza" adoption fair will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Palace of Auburn Hills. the event will feature hundreds of dogs, puppies, cats and kittens from dozens of animal rescue groups across the state, including mixed breeds and purebreds. Adoption fees range from $50 to $125. South Lyon Advertisement Signs to honor former county commissionerA street sign declaring "The Jeff Potter Highway" will be erected along two roadways this month after Oakland County commissioners had the metal signs created in honor of Commissioner Jeff Potter, R-South Lyon, who died last month. the blue signs will be placed along two spots in Potter's district in southwest Oakland County and will remain there for about three months. the signs, which cost about $800, were paid for by commissioners and not by public tax dollars, officials said. Pontiac Silverdome will host motorcycle festivalMotorcycle fans from around the region are expected to converge on the Pontiac Silverdome next week for a four-day festival. the Midwest Motorcycle Fest runs from Thursday through Aug. 1 at the 127-acre site and includes races, custom and sport bike shows, skill demonstrations and music. the 80,300-seat Silverdome was home of the Detroit Lions until 2002 and was sold last year for $583,000 to Triple Properties Inc. of Toronto.
